jj,

The former forum I'm already aware of, however in my judgement it doesn't have the basic breadth and width of content to support a WMs endeavor to marry a RW.  The latter forum I was not aware of and will review.  Thanks for the heads up.

I'm been toying with the idea of opening a category for baby forums.  In time.

Thanks,

are but two more with active membership that excede all you've listed except RWGuide

Readers,

Currently there are known to the Russian Woman Source (RWS) only 5 major public Russian Bride forum sites.  I'm sure there are more out in the www. somewhere and with time and help from the users they will be accounted for in our listing.  Each of these 5 sites provides greater than the minimum amount of content to establish itself as a viable entity to guide a Western man  (WM) through the maze of searching, meeting and living with a Russian women (RW).

(note to self - Must start a book of Acronyms)

Of these 5 sites, each one has a different flavor that is dictated by a combination of management, objectives, organization, content, size and members.  Each user must decide which forum(s) best suits his personal goals.  The details of their flavor are evident once a user reads its associated summary and forum.

The Russian Bride industry attracts large numbers of WM who are willing to part with goodly sums of monies to find and secure a Russian wife.   This in turn attracts business entities of all kinds that will help such men in the pursue of their goals.  The RW information business is no different.  Most RW information is parceled out with its due amount of advertising, however it wasn't always this way.  The begins of these 5 forums started with little or no affiliations (i.e. advertisers, agency owners, etc.).  Over time many were turned into revenue centers.

Forum site operations and day-to-day management requires ongoing resources.  Few individuals will submit to supporting such a site forever at a continuing loss.  After a time some kind of revenue stream becomes necessary to support a sites ongoing operations and growth.  This is one aspect of forum sites; how to integrate revenues while not creating excessive annoyances in the forums and possible conflicts of interest which may lend to dis-crediting the forums as a whole.

Annoyances and conflicts of interest within and associated with any give site, in general, is not a good characteristic.  All things being the same, it would be in the best interest of the user to pass on such a site.  Sites that have less annoyances and conflicts of interest stand to potentially provide more balanced and unbiased information to the users.

All these sites include legal protection through a Term of Service or Use (TOS or TOU).  Basically, it is there to protect the site from abusive users, liabilities and damages.   However, since it is often so broad, the members and guests essentially have no rights and few (if any) protections.  Some sites may include onerous TOS/TOU language that may make the membership base responsible for legal actions against the site or relinquish other basic rights.

Each site has a different membership base of 100s to thousands.  This can be misleading.  This is especially true for sites that are over 3 years old.  The average WM that is going through the 'Process' of finding their RW soul mate, will be involved with a site for about ~2 years.  After this time many can become inactive members, however most sites will keep them on the membership rolls indefinitely and thus inflating the appearance of their true member base.

Another thing to remember is that Russian Bride information can be 'shelf life' sensitive and can become 'dated'.   Russia is going through tremendous internal changes at every level.  Information that is not updated frequently is at risk of not being as accurate or relevant.  This means that huge forums that have amassed volumes of history over, say 2 years old or more can be of significantly less value to a user.

Also, there are really a limited number of essential topics where most threads are just a variations on these few themes.  This being the case, the larger sites are prone to rehash these variations every which way under the sun.  This eventually makes a topic into a text book of its own.  This is great for those who have the time and inclination to read the entire library of topics, however many users in the 'process' will absorb the majority of information needed within a ~4 month time frame before making their first visit.  This is generally not enough time to read and absorb such volumes of information.   Such sites can suffer in the 'ease of use' department.

Another point to remember,  before you decide to contribute to a forum, take the time to consider the source.  It may not seem so important when you first start, however it will later on.  Forums are a place of trust.  You are trusting them with your questions and guidance in an open venue.  Make sure that your trust is well placed.

Try not be partial with any particular site.  There is good information in all of them.  Just remember to consider the source or flavor of a site.  Be aware of potential conflicts of interest and annoyances.  Keep in mind your time frame before visiting and most of all have a great time in this most awesome of adventures in life.
